Finnish Mass Spectrometry Society

Welcome to the website of the Finnish Mass Spectrometry Society!

About the Society

The Finnish Mass Spectrometry Society (FMSS) is a non-profit association founded in 1980, whose purpose is to promote national and Nordic mass spectrometry knowledge. In addition, the aim of the society is to connect people as well as scientific communities interested and working in the field of mass spectrometry in both national and Scandinavian level.  The society annually organizes scientific meetings, training events, visits to companies and research institutes. The society also supports young mass spectrometry researchers and grants incentive scholarships for dissertations in the field of mass spectrometry and travel grants to scientific meetings.

Since the foundation of the society, the activities have been led by a board which includes the chairman, secretary and four other members. The number of members in the society has grown steadily throughout its more than 40-year history. Around the time the club was founded in 1980, just under 50 people joined the society, and this year 2024, the membership is already over 700. All those interested in mass spectrometry are welcome to join the society, and no joining or membership fees have been charged to members in recent years.
